Personal Collection (#8//80)

Note: This appears to have been Danjûrô XII's only known appearance in
this role during the time that Binnie lived in Japan prior to the creation of
this print.  Otherwise, Danjûrô XII's most recent performance as Sukeroku
in Tokyo appears to have been at the Kabuki-za in May 1992.  Danjûrô XII
also performed the role at the Kabuki-za in January 1988 and in April and
June 1985 and, as Ichikawa Ebizô X, performed the role  multiple times as
far back as November 1969.  This print is likely based on a broadcast
recording of one of these prior performances.
