Note: It is unclear if this is a woodblock print, a watercolor
drawing, or a hand-colored keyblock print for an
unpublished design. Arao Jôsuke was a sequel to Konjiki
Yasha (金色夜叉), a novel by Kôyô Ozaki, Konjiki
Yasha was adapted for the stage in a March 1898
production at the Ichimura-za that starred Minoru and
was included on November 1912 bill at the Hongô-za,
Since Minoru played the same character in both plays,
the print could depict him in either play. Takada
Minoru died on September 20, 1916 at age 46.
