Note: Ebizô IX first played the role of Moritsune in this
play in Tokyo at the Mitsukoshi Gekijô in October 1948,
and it is possible that Gakô based this print on that  performance.

Note: Utaemon VI first performed the role of Hanako in
connection with his shûmei at the Kabuki-za  in April and
May of 1951.  (He had, however, played the role previously
under the names of Nakamura Shikan VI and  Nakamura Fukusuke VI.)

Note: Shôtarô first played the role of Shiraito in this play in
Tokyo at the Tokyo Gekijô in August 1933.  Although
Shôtarô's last Tokyo appearance in this role before the
publication date of the print was in August 1951, it is
possible that Gakô based this print on one of Shôtarô's
prior performances.
