Note: Chûsha VII first played Mitsuhide in this play in Tokyo
at the Kabuki-za in May 1919.  Prior to his 1925 perform-
ance, he also played this role at the Meiji-za in September
1922, and at the Hongô-za in April 1924.  It is possible that
Shunsen based this print on one of those earlier performances.

Note: There was a production of Soga Ju-ban ki (曽我十番斬) at the Kanda
theater in Tokyo in November 1924 and of Kotobuki Soga no Taimen
(寿曽我対面) at the Suhiro-za in Nagoya in December 1924.   While the casts
of those productions are not known to this author, it is possible that this print

Kabuki-za in November 1905.  Prior to his 1925 performance,
he also performed this role at the Kabuki-za in April 1910, at
the Kabuki-za in November 1916, and at the Shintomi-za in
December 1919.  Depending on the precise publication date
of this print, it is possible that Shunsen modeled this print
after Uzaemon XV's 1916 or 1919 performances.

the presence of the red seals on the back of the
